What this tool does not do

Last updated: July 2026. We would rather you read this before buying than after.

PII detection is not exhaustive

The app may miss sensitive information, especially unusual formats, uncommon names, ambiguous references, or details that are only identifying in context. The residual-risk report is an aid, not a guarantee.

No pixel-level image redaction

For images, the app produces an anonymized textual description. It does not blur, redact, or modify the source image file. Do not share the original image.

No formal de-identification standard

This product does not claim compliance with HIPAA Safe Harbor, GDPR pseudonymization standards, or any other regulatory framework. Use it as a practical aid, not as a compliance tool.

It cannot stop someone who does not use it

DataAnonymiser redacts at the point a person chooses to run it. It is not an enforcement gateway: it cannot block a colleague from pasting raw data into an AI tool, and it has no central policy or audit trail in the self-serve plans.

Supported file types

Version 1 supports plain text, common source-code and developer config files, PDFs (.pdf), Word documents (.docx), spreadsheets (.xlsx), and images (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp).
